Join us for an exciting event featuring former Governor Jane Swift, who will be our keynote speaker. In 1990, at age 25, Swift was the youngest woman ever to be elected to the Massachusetts Senate, where she was instrumental in the passage of the Education Reform Act of 1993.

She was elected lieutenant governor in 1998, and became governor three years later after the late Gov. Paul Cellucci resigned to become U.S. ambassador to Canada. Swift is the only woman to have served as governor in Massachusetts and was the first woman in U.S. history to give birth (to twins) while serving as governor. 

Swift founded and currently serves as Board President of Cobble Hill Farm and Rescue Mission, a nonprofit animal rescue organization in Williamstown, Mass. This spring, she served as a Berry Institute on Politics Fellow at Salem State University.

The meeting will kick off with a member-led discussion on a podcast titled, Hurry Slowly, with Jenny O’Dell, author of “How to Do Nothing.”  

Registration is $25 per person. 

All women working in appointed positions in local government are encouraged to attend.
